Visiting this site
This site is hosted by Lovable (Lovable Labs Incorporated, 1111b South Governors Avenue, Dover, Delaware 19904, USA) and delivered through a worldwide network of servers. When you open a page, the server that answers processes the data your browser sends in order to deliver it: your IP address, the date and time, the page requested and details of your browser and device. Because the network is worldwide and Lovable is a US company, this can take place outside the European Union, including in the United States. I need this processing to show you the site and to keep it secure. The legal basis is my legitimate interest in running the site (Article 6(1)(f) GDPR). What Lovable records and for how long is set out in its own privacy policy.
This site sets no cookies of its own, counts no visitors, shows no advertising and loads no content from other providers. The typefaces are served from the site itself. Lovable's network sets short-lived technical cookies needed to deliver the site and protect it against automated attacks. They are not used to track you.
Signing up for emails
If you leave your email address, I use it to tell you when I publish something new. The sign-up takes effect once you confirm it through the link in an email sent to you. You can unsubscribe at any time through the link in every email, or by writing to me. The legal basis is your consent (Article 6(1)(a) GDPR).
The emails are sent through Buttondown (Buttondown, LLC, 406 W Franklin St. #201, Richmond, VA 23221, USA). Buttondown stores your email address, the time of your sign-up and confirmation, and technical details of the sign-up, which may include your IP address, on servers in the United States. My contract with Buttondown includes a data processing agreement with the EU's standard contractual clauses. I can see which links in an email are clicked, and by which subscriber. For this, the links in my emails pass through an address at Buttondown before they reach their destination. I use this only to learn which pieces readers find useful. I do not track whether you open an email. The legal basis is your consent, which you give when you sign up; you can withdraw it at any time by unsubscribing.
Writing to me
If you write to contact@adaptationfoundry.com, I process your email address and what you tell me in order to answer you. The mailbox is provided by Google Workspace (Google Ireland Limited). The legal basis is my legitimate interest in answering enquiries (Article 6(1)(f) GDPR). I keep messages for as long as the exchange requires and delete them when they are no longer needed.
Links to other sites
This site links to other websites, for example LinkedIn, the organisations I work with and the sources of figures in my articles. No data is sent to them until you follow a link. Their own privacy policies then apply.
Your rights
You can ask me what data I hold about you, have it corrected or deleted, have its processing restricted, receive it in a portable form, and object to processing that rests on my legitimate interest. You can withdraw a consent at any time. To do any of this, write to contact@adaptationfoundry.com.
You also have the right to complain to a data protection authority. The authority responsible for me is the Bayerisches Landesamt für Datenschutzaufsicht in Ansbach.
